Q: What documents can't be notarized?
A: Documents issued by a Virginia Circuit Court, the Virginia Department of Health's Office of Vital Records, or the State Corporation Commission cannot be notarized. These documents must be issued within the past 12 months with no exceptions. Examples of such documents include vital records (birth, death, marriage, divorce, single status), marriage records issued by a Virginia Circuit Court (which must have a triple seal attached), Virginia-issued circuit court documents (such as divorce decrees, name change documents, and single status documents), and documents issued by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Copies of Federal documents, like a passport or Immigration search report, can be notarized by a Virginia notary as a true copy of the original.
Q: I don't understand this document, can you explain everything to me?
A: Typically a document includes explanations and definitions for all the legal terms used. We can help by pointing out where the answer may be found. If you have further questions or need more clarification, you can refer to the person or organization who drafted the document for additional information.
